The black grim watches me
Through darkened eyes.
He waits for me
Through my disguise.
He knows I'm willing
To leave this place.
He knows I await
His deep embrace.
On the night breeze
The horseman comes
The sounds grow louder
As the hoof beat drums.
He searches through
The fog and rain
To find me alone
Fleeing by train.
The reaper waits
In the stillness of night.
The breezes blowing
The birds scream in flight.
He beacons me
With open arms
In my weakness
Trapped in his charms.
So come for me
My deep dark friend.
Show me the way
To nights end.

Hmmm... a dark movie. The heroine fleeing through the dark. And who is the horseman? A man? I like this poem, but I had to find myself looking for the Power in the woman being pursued. Perhaps the horseman is a projection from inside the pursued? Sorry this is not so critique-oid.
This is more of a draft. I wrote it several months ago. I would love some suggestions. This poem is a bit out of my normal style range, but I felt compelled to write it at the time.
