Strong as an Oak

In the forest hills and the walker towns
Soul music flowing through the deeper downs,
There stands an oak tall as the eyes can see.
Born on the dreams of the brave and free.

Through it time runs and change melts away
Down to the core of a strong yesterday,
Where we find our paths and know what we got to be.
That someday we measure up to the oak tree.

As the waves of the world come crashing in,
Sign after sign tells the world to end.
We've seen the shed of blood
Made it through the drought and the rising floods.
While the rest of the world moves to a state of despair,
You can look but you won't find my country there.

When it's time to fight or it's time to run
Men will stand to defend lesser ones
And sacrifice knowing there's a greater reward
To leave this world better than it was before.

Whether toiling in cold or the hot desert sun,
No one breaks away until the day is done.
And we find our peace, the oak was meant to stay,
As our children look up to us the same way.

As the waves of the world come crashing in,
Sign after sign tells the world to end.
We've seen the shed of blood
Made it through the drought and the rising floods.
While the rest of the world moves to a state of despair,
You can look but you won't find my country there.

The children learn and then they play.
No one starves or runs away.
We show right from wrong and listen to the elders teach.
We're tied to the roots as far as the branches reach.

As the waves of the world come crashing in,
Sign after sign tells the world to end.
We've seen the shed of blood
Made it through the drought and the rising floods.
While the rest of the world moves to a state of despair,
You can look but you won't find my country there.

In the forest hills and the walker towns
Soul music flowing through the deeper downs,
There stands an oak tall as the eye can see
Born on the dreams of the brave and free.
