The taste of blood is sweet my love
As wind upon the bough
The mantle of thy death my love
Descends upon thee now
Look deep into my eyes my love
And see thy doom draw near
Gaze now upon death's face my love
And know thine end is near
I gave thee all my soul my love
My lightest breath 'twas thine
My deepest soul I pledged my love
The holiest of wine
Thy laughter haunts me so my love
Thy smile still coaxes tears
Still mad for thee I am my love
But still my blade draws near
A broken think of broken parts
Thou left me in our bed
My spirit maimed by woman's arts
All pity is now dead
Thou stilled my heart my sweet, sweet love
My fondest dream lies dead
A tempest through me blows my love
Thy blood will I now shed.
Oh God! Pray shut thine eyes my love
They too much now do plead
Hold fast thy panicked words my love
They do my rage but feed
Oh! Kiss me one last time my love
Gaze upwards through thy fears
Now see, I cannot slay thee love
So blinded by my tears.
Forgive! Forgive thy erstwhile love my love
Who bears thee in his heart
Life's fruit tastes bitter now my love
As finally we part.
