My name is Fagit

Hi, my name is Fagit.
It's not my real name,
just a nick one that stuck
when I was young.

No matter where I was,
all that was shouted
was my name,
like I was famous!

Soon, everybody knew
my nick too.

Grandpa, Dad,
brothers, sisters,
kids, teachers,
Football players, cowgirls,
Homemakers, clerks,
Waitresses, cops,
Co-workers, my boss,
Ex-girlfriends,
Poets, mathematicians,
Hematologists,
Boys, girls,
Men, women,
Bullies and thugs,
even little old Grandmas.

I'm not as famous
as I used to be.
Now I'm tall, handsome
worked out, mean and tough-

'Cause

that's what other
nicked fagit's like,
not those fucking
sissies from school.

This hits the gut Tucker. Felt the anger, the disdain.. that's why I always love your poems. So raw and there's always something that just kicks it in at the end. Good work!

very nice. really enjoyed it, just one spelling issue, 'handsone' should be "handsome." very nice poem otherwise.

I really enjoyed the humor masking the pain. The wounds inflicted in childhood by cruel words are hard to heal and writing becomes therapeutic.Bravo!

I don't read an awful lot of poetry, but this one packed a real punch. I love the angry humour and poignancy to it.

I particularly like your list of people in the middle - the way you lump all your tormentors together. This really worked for me.

Thank you Kathy. I did try to show that, turn it around so to speak. I'm thrilled you have noted it! How awesome!
