A Revelation

I stood in my kitchen shaking the glass,
The melted ice swirled in the mixture of Bacardi and coke.

I cringed as the liquid hit my tongue.
Too strong.

I always made them strong, regardless.
Three shots of liquor, topped off with a mixer.

My fridge was bare except for a lonely jar of mayonnaise
And a couple bottles of diet coke.

As I took another sip, my eyes staring aimlessly at the wall,
I realized that she wasn't coming back.
