Don't tell us who we need to be
Don't make us better for you to see
Just let me see myself for me
Be who I want to be
Not perfection in the eyes of society,
Because those around me
Don't care that it's me
They just care that I am seen
And what they see
Might not be what they want to see
Just look away
Don't change me
With your laws of decency
Just look away

To brighten just a few seconds of your day
Or to bask in your own glory
Just look away
And see
The things you think you need to see.

I agree. In the highly judged society we live in today, sometimes I feel like just screaming this message, "Don't change me with your laws of decency"!
