Never Before Seen Footage

The Two Coreys, a show that is on A&E, has only been running for a few weeks. In fact, they haven't even finished the first series of episodes yet. But, you can see THE "Never Before Seen Footage."

When Jimi Hendrix died, it took people years to find tracks that he had made and just didn't like for one reason or another. Hearing those tracks was a treasure.

After Tupac was shot and killed, some tracks that he had put down finally appeared a few years after his death.

There are lost episodes of Star Trek, Little House on the Prairie and Batman. Never before seen footage of Elvis and John F. Kennedy.

But, the Coreys. Are you kidding me? Pretty much all of it is "Never Before Seen Footage."

And that just sums up so many things in our world today. Shows are syndicated before they've had a chance to run. My Boys was showing reruns the week of its first episode. I thought it was great because I missed it. But, I also thought it was rather quick. Then, The Riches started out that way too.

And the way I often do, I can relate this to the quick trends we have going on throughout the world. Books are written the day after terrible storms have subsided and famous court cases are decided. Movie deals are struck before Search and Rescue has returned home from their mission. We had a show about the war while we were still in the war.

"All that exists is just and unjust and equally justified in both'¦Your world, this! So that's a world!" Friedrich Nietzsche's The Birth of Tragedy

Aaaand this is yet another reason I won't watch TV. This insistence on slamming us with the same thing over and over again. Making more out of what's there than is actually there. HBO is great for this manuever. 'Behind the scenes' and 'never before seen' and 'the stars as you've never seen them'. Oh, blah. I watched 'The Sopranos' for seven [?] years and felt totally screwed by that finale. Yet, there are people who said I had to watch interviews with the writers and director and stars to 'get it'. I DON'T WANT TO. I should have been given what my dedication to the series proved: I was a huge fan.

Bah. Okay, I'm on a tangent and will stop now. I'm going to go throw a chair at the television.

Thanks for another thought-provoking read, Michael. And the reminder that TV stinks and I'm not missing much.
