Where I Air My Laundry
Standard American household,
I hang my dirty laundry outside,
Hoping the neighbors can help remove
That too familiar lipstick stain.
I have two children beautiful and smart
Eyes like their father, bearing the same strange heart
Not bearing my features.
I have the cleanest bathroom in town
Untarnished from mildew or soap scum
Catching a glance of alien perfume.
Immaculately kept kitchen holding
Any modern convenience.
Refrigerator stocked with organics
And items grown only in fair trade farms
Hand carved Indonesian trashcan containing a letter
Addressed to my husband ' Scrolling foreign pink handwriting
Standard American household,
I hang my dirty laundry outside,
Hoping the neighbors can help remove
That too familiar lipstick stain.

| Very good - I loved its simplicity yet bold statement; almost forcing you to look into her life, her "dirty laundry", yet stating she does not care what you think of it. Powerful stuff. I love the way you write; please do add more! |

I love poems that have a clear concept even though it's never stated.
PERFECT EXAMPLE!
Really good. |

| The rhyming lines smart and heart... are a little bit dangerous, but I must say the imagery is pretty gorgeous. Lipstick is a powerful metaphor.-I also really love how the neighbors are brought in to all of this... creates a sense of bringing the outside, in. |

| This made me feel like an observer to a woman walking through a climatic storm not afraid. Powerful poem. |
