Into the convoluted labyrinth of me
on the snail-like path of my thoughts
I go blissfully into the night
cloaked only in filmy desire
As ever that faraway dream resides
just on the edge of my mind
it burns on, an eternal flame
while whispering its siren sighs
Like fireflies trapped in the innocence
of a childhood's evening delight
my soul plays on in the moonlight
and never sees dawn's early rise
The shadows of night are a comfort
a balm to the wounds of my life
its cool darkness a harbor of safety
for a fugitive from love and light
I rock to sleep in my self-imposed bed
as the dream moves farther away
And the hope of the lost fades away in the dark
and knows not how the day is met

Darra, a beautiful poem you have shared with us. Allowing the reader into your mind almost like a guide. I love the careful handling of the emotions and the choice of words "while whispering its siren sighs" - nice contrast.
Have only one suggestion, to adjust the last sentence and word. Somehow the last word stands out from the rest. Maybe the rhyme doesn't sit so well with the rest.
Other than that.. lovely poem. Keep them coming. :)
