Necessity

Windows now fogged
Were clearer before
One foot on the dashboard
And one on the floor
Her sweat paints the leather
She holds to the door
One foot on the dashboard
And one on the floor
The chrome on the buckles
Is wet from our games
And I know that I should
But I don't know her name
I knew her before
We met yesterday
And I know that I should
But I don't know her name
I'm not in her future
And I don't know her past
I'll never forget her
But I already have
And I'll try not to think
Of what we might have had
I'll never forget her
But already have

This poem has the smooth quality of a song. It is as another reader said, "refreshing" and candid read too.

Thanks, all. I actually HAD a band, but that was a while ago, so now I mostly just write poetry. Because I am absolutely abysmal at playing guitar.

I certainly enjoy the song feel of your poems. If you don't already, you should set this stuff to music...make good blues or even rock :)

that one night shared and easily forgotten, I like the repetition in this and the short lines. There is a great sense of moment here, of this being one place in time.

This was a refreshing read.

"One foot on the dashboard
and one on the floor"
How reminiscent of blues. I am reading on.
