Fire me or fire myself

December 22, 2005 9:39pm

Fire me or fire myself
Who in the world will care?
When you’re lost upon a shelf
Forgotten and away
All the tolls been paid
But fines are far overdue
Through all the passing days
Over working the workaholic
Underpaid it outweighs
Better off in losing a job
But either way
I’m still getting robbed
There is no winning
All I do is pray
Since when is working so hard
Seem like I’m the one sinning
When it’s the world around me
Taking and still spinning
But I am still here
A book upon a shelf
Waiting for some answers
The worst is not what I fear
What I don’t know
Is what am I to do

That's one way of expressing the feeling of being just another ant in a large antbed. I always felt like that when the excitement of a new job was over. I never could stay any one place for a long time because I felt unappreciated.

Yea, this is a good way to phrase the rigors of work. It's really not good to give up in a sense, and I hope that's what your message was supposed to be for. I have a lot of people I know who overwork, and it seems like to me working too hard is just as productive as not working enough.

The words are expressive... I'd just add an "s" to "Seem" for readability and change the order of the words in the last line "Is what am I to do", to "Is what I am to do"... besides that this was done well...
