Goodnight, Sir

I am your faithful servant.
You are the only mother I ever had.
We just greeted each other like we do every single evening.
A moment passes and you fall out of your chair. The candelabra burns, and constantly burns. Nightly you would dismiss me with a simple 'Goodnight, Sir.'
Then you delivered your final message:

I listened to what my
mama said before she
died. She asked me
to do what she didn't.
I acknowledged I would do
what seemed to her the
impossible. I stared into
her eyes, the last moments
of life faded and she
sighed. I clasped my hand
within hers and tried
to remember what it
was all like before
I listened to what my mama
said before she died.

I was your faithful servant.
You were the only mother I ever had.
We had just greeted each other like we do every single evening.
A moment passed and you fell out of your chair. The candelabra burns, and still burns. From this night on I will miss your simple 'Goodnight, Sir.'
Now I shall deliver my final message.
I bow my head slowly as I say:
Goodnight Ma'am.

Sad and lyrical. A promise made to a dying wish, great concept. The poem is well written, and as i read out load was not tripped up at any point. **

Yeh, quite poignant, that long line needs fixing though. This came across as sincere and well thought out.
