That Is Where He Stayed

That is where he stayed
most of the time
it gave him inspiration
a reason a rhyme
the coffee the cigarette
the waitress his dream
it was all there for him
because that is where he stayed
most of the time
that was his home
when he was away from home

he sat in the back booth
night after night
it gave him hope
to the questions
never answered
he watched and listened
and made some notes
it was the way he felt
no matter how many times
he wanted to go
that is where he stayed
most of the time

from dusk til dawn
you will find him there
night after night
that if where
he loved to be
that is where he stayed
most of the time

I can see a man sitting in the back booth of an old diner when I read this. I like your writing style and this poem! Good job!
