Part one…
He said, follow me
turn away from the path of sin
I said okay
but which way do I go
He said take a left turn at the traffic lights
and you’ll know when you get there, you’ll know
You’ll know that you’re on the righteous path
it’s the one that goes under the bridge
by the station
Carry on until you get
to the barge of hope
and then wait there
for the revelation
So I went to the left
and walked under the bridge
and spread the good news as I went
but when I got to the barge
that said ‘hope’ on the side
it was in such a state
that I couldn’t believe that
it could be the barge
that could lead us to freedom
so I thought I’d walk back
to the place where I’d started
to clarify once and for all
with the man who had pointed the way
on that glorious day
whether this was the barge that he’d meant
But as I turned around
a figure appeared
he said thank you for coming
what do you think of my beard?
I said with facial hair
I can take it or leave it
he said beards are good news
and you’d better believe it
And you have been sent here
because of your faith
despite the derision
and fear of disgrace
You have walked under bridges
and hovered near barges
and now you’ll enjoy
my spiritual largesse
I said, what does that mean
he replied, I don’t know
but if you love me
you’ll continue to grow….
