MY IMPASSINED PLEA
(For Druscilla)
A roller coaster ride, and I mean it
Is all I desire in this whole wide world
I want it on land, on sea or in the air
When that time comes I’ll throw myself in
With my love, two jugs and the family cat
I won’t bother about the fig tree
Or grandpa’s relic of a fishing boat
After all, Bota is so far away!
If I had my way I’d name the day and hang it
Like the old woman who dried her tears with a word
Long before knowing the place to be could be fair
Even so, I value my years at JMC like the golden fin
Because without them I’d have smelled a rotten rat
Today I want the roller coaster to set me free
I’m the crab whose love song was written on the moat
And despatched in the floating bottle to find its way.
