Cherish the Day

Cherish the Day © 2007
written by Glen Yumang Manese
a.k.a. Filipino American Dream

Shall I quit
loving you.
Like Romeo’s day
to Juliet.
A Celtic king
to his Leonora.
Cutting ambidextrous
hands to place
across my heart.
All for the actions
of love.
Suicidal tendencies
of tragedy.
Modern times
call for different
measures.
Pleasures the mind
to perform
like an actor.
Films would gain
much wealth.
Notoriety for death
is such riches
to the society.
Only then does
fame equal
the balance
of subjective matters.
Tattered and torn
holds no more
my days.
Giving out
of nothing.
Gaining nothing
for a belief.
Carrying the soul
to a new direction.
Dictates the mind
of his dimension.
My waterfall
pours out the last
droplets of blood.
Filtering life
and death
in a unison
for a moment.
Cherish the day.
Out of loving.
Denying gives
my orders
of freedom.
Wisdom cares not
my speech.
Falters the definition.
Sending no signal
to the heart
of my mine.
No cries.
No tears.
Fear is no longer
a doubt.
As my soul
departs in separation
to be with you.
