4:08am

4:08am and I'm still awake
It's not too long until dawn will break
4:08am and I'm still awake
If I fall asleep, it'll take more than a shake

I scramble around in boxes in the middle of the night
Obsessively, before it's light
I search for poetry magazines in my corners
Before it's light

The birds outside are already starting to sing
And my alarm clock will soon ring
Had I set the thing
To wake me
Tomorrow slash today
To see what it will bring

4:16am and I'm still awake
Will I go to sleep
To rouse, in horror
And try to make
Sense
Tomorrow
Slash
Today
