And We All Shawnell
Sun slowly rising
Creeping, as though to mimic eternity
And this only the peak, pinnacle
The golden crown, strands straight
Without straining, for gravity delivers her
Soft brush with each nod
With every yes, a filament left
Flimsy evidence
In green, she mocks the earth’s beauty
Nature a mere signpost
Points toward my love’s locks
Towards true beauty
A beauty whose embarrassment reddens
And creates a shine even more luminescent
A cycle, which by repetition
Will provide new worlds with life giving glow
Shawnell, shush, do not hasten to protest
As if the sun could doubt it’s ability to break the dawn
Do not shy from your worshipper’s gaze
As if the earth and her constant companion
The moon
Did not reflect perfection
But were mere sycophant, paparazzi
Praying for a glimpse of recognition
