morning together
The night before
A single beam of light
Hands grasp for silver straws
Slivered moonbeams shimmering between the slats of the blinds
Fading and brightening to golden morning sun
You and I are still together
As we were when we dozed off
My head sleep-heavy on your shoulder
My body tucked up close to yours
One leg flung across your stomach
Your arm tossed limply across my back
Fingers open in surrender of slumber
Sun warms our naked skin
Wakes us slowly.
We stretch like lazy kittens and yawn
We smile through sleepy eyes
Movements languid, gentle caress of a finger
Trace down the curve of my back awakens me
And I rise to meet your lips.
