7 - Surreal Adventures of a Higher Order
01 - I took a trip to heaven
There were no dictators
A few politicians
But they could not speak
They mostly nodded their heads
And there was no god or deity to speak of
I guess the creator was leaving it up to us again
Free will and all that stuff
It was bright as you may imagine
Everyone wore shorts and summer shirts
Everything was art deco
For a moment, I thought I was in South Beach
It was serene
People picked colors from the sky
Smiled a lot and walked
There were no cars and no oil
No guns and no killing
There was no crying
No sorrow or pain
Gandhi ran the show
But there were others
The hierarchy read like a Hollywood flick
There was Bono, and Susan Sarandon, and Steve McQueen
I saw Bukowski and wondered
How did his fat ass get in here?
Oh, yeah, he hung out with Bono and Sean Penn
The rest of us simply followed
And George was there
With a permanently plastered crooked smile on his face
Just as we remembered him
And nothing on his mind
Just as we knew him
Unable to enter
He stood outside the pearly gates
As he simply smiled and nodded his little head
He opened the doors and greeted newcomers
Sometimes he signed autographs

| How did Bukowski get in there, lol. I always like to hear people's perspectives on their heaven. Yours seems like a good time. Thanks again for the great read. -D |

| Thanks for the great comments and thanks for the correction. That’s what happens when you write at three in the morning. I don't know what I'd do without you good people. |

Another interesting viewpoint on things!
Oops, the line "But their were others" should read, "But THERE were others..."
I laugh! And George OUTSIDE the gates. I do not need to punish him, but I don't want him misleading or hurting others or making their visit unpleasant.
Thank you for a delightful poem. |

| Beautiful, fun. I like the offbeat sentiment of it. Good stuff. |
