Give Me Something To Believe In
What did you believe in as a child? Santa Clause? The Easter Bunny? Faeries? Closet Monsters? God?
What makes us grow up or make us change our minds so much so that we no longer believe in any of them? I can understand not believing in the Santa, and the Easter bunny after awhile because we eventually find out that our parents are the ones who bought everything, especially after we become parents ourselves. And maybe the belief in the closet monster begins to vanish after we are old enough to comprehend the explanation or learn for ourselves what is actually causing the noise(s).
But what about faeries and God? I've never seen either one. But some people believe both exist, depending on who you ask. I've read books about both, heard stories and saw a few websites devoted to each.
What makes us stop believing or at the very least makes us question our faith? Naysayers? Personal experiences? Other peoples opinions? Can we see a lack of faith? Yes, everytime we see someone sink into a depression, a lack of confidence, low self esteem, and so on. Can we feel a lack of faith? Yes, everytime we feel loneliness or despair, fear or hopelessness.
What do we need to do believe like children again? To have an unwavering, awe-inspiring faith?
We need to go on ajourney deep within ourselves and rediscover ourselves and who we are. Once we remember who we are or used to be, we can own it again!! Once we do, we'll be able to handle anything, failures or wins with quiet dignity and grace.
