Hymn of Old Butler

O lone butler of the ridge!
Swayed with the zephyr of the eve
Sisyphus comes and goes
Goes and comes
Loneliness breaks and persists
Persists and breaks
Birds come and go
Sun rises and sets-
Fragile are the unions
Fragile are the loneliness
You alone know!

O master of Zen
You boil my blood with venom
Which they call jealousy
I know
You the mediator of the age
You the observer and contemplator
Erudite of the pages of lives

O Bodhisattva
I come and sleep in thy feet
Save me with the benediction
Bear a light out of dark I walk
Bear a blossom out of hell I dive
Lotuses grow wherever you tread.
