"The Open Water"

'The Open Water'

Struggling for air
With each gasp of oxygen
I strive for
I sink further
Into the deep dark
Sea of depression.
So I drink the
alcohol and drug
Contaminated water that
Surrounds me.
In hope to escape
The pain I daily endure.
The more sea water
I consume
The more the water rises
Around my body.
There for I sink
Deeper and deeper.
Never yet have I kept
My head above the water.
But for brief moments
That are barely enough to stay alive.
There is no shore in sight,
To swim to for safty.
So the tide and currents
Wisk me away into the darkness
And I shave never be seen again.

"The Buffalo Hunters"

by Nicholas Jakari

Violent, graphic novel set against the background of the South African revolution in 1994. The lives of five groups of people intersect during a bloody and violent Saturday night and Sunday morning. Not for the squeamish. Climax based on an actual gunfight involving the author.
