Under Me Gravel, Over Me Sky

I lay on my flat roof
to feel high and low
at the same time
under me gravel
over me sky
surrounded by leaves
that have lost their smiles.

A fidgetty wren
scared of the sunlight
and the wind
stared at my soul
nodded to say
no apprehension
should kill me
and zipped off.

Still thinking of you
hieroglyphics we share
not quite revealing
what we mean
can I tell you the words in my heart?

I really liked this. It reminded me of those times when I feel so completely connected to everything around me that even the animals seem to be communicating with me.

Love that.

Visual. I can see it plainly. The place, the leaves, the wren, the man. Nicely done.
