Passion and Repression

Inside us
there is a dream
waiting to be freed
in every man
woman
child
a passion runs wild
it flows
through our soul
untold
until the day
no longer dormant
it overflows
and becomes a part
of who we are
the undiscovered
merging with our outer life
and then we must decide
to embrace
the truth inside
or hide it
for the truth may set you free
but you will still pay a price
when you stand in the crowd
and allow them
to see your passion
in action
it scares them
the repression of their dreams
makes it seem
you are doing something wrong
and their solution?
persecution..
to abolish all reminders
of the blinders
they’ve been wearing
for so long
terrified to see
what lies beneath
afraid if unleashed
things they once wanted
will come back to haunt them
forcing change
which can’t happen
because they’re all wrapped up in
the life they now lead
things aren’t always what they seem
the desire of your heart may fade
but it won’t go away
so let’s all face the truth
and let loose
the dream that’s
hiding inside us
