epic

to give away a gift
of the heart
and then later
ask why
i avoid the mirror
i can't stand to see
that little boy cry
i miss seeing you spin
around the room
around the yard
my heart used to swell
as i sit here
drinking
a new kind of spinning
fills my mind
and my soul
i've let my life become hell
too bad i couldn't
fill your heart
like you filled mine
it's no good to look back
now that we've
drawn this line
but when i try to look
forward i walk as
though i'm blind
our little farm
was never going to
come true
so we stay in the city
where we both die
i lie down
i'm resolute
it's over
