A Thousand Year Length
Brown squirrels are leaping from field to tree.
Black crows are winging from branch to branch.
The world is at play,
And I am walking across the grass with quick strides.
A squirrel is tiny; this length is a thousand years to his feet
And I am walking across the grass with quick strides.
It will be no time at all before I am done with it,
And he will still be traveling.
Brown squirrels are moving from field to tree.
Black crows are moving from branch to branch.
I am traveling across this life with great strides
It will be no time at all before I am done with it.
Brown squirrels can't take calls right now,
They are in meetings in Boston and L.A.
Black crows attend family reunions cautiously
Because the strange ones always come out of the woodworks.
One black shape cuts perfectly above the thousand years,
And I am scampering in the dirty leaves,
I am leaping frome field to tree,
I am winging from branch to branch.
I am late for a meeting in Boston, and
I am late for my family reunion.
I am traveling across this life with great strides
It will be no time at all before I am done with it.

| I couldn't figure out if I liked the repetition or not. I think i did. In any case, the concept was interesting, and I enjoyed contemplating that for a moment. |
