Sometimes
Sometimes I lie awake,
Pretending that you're here,
Sure that I hear you whispering,
Sweet nothings in my ear.
Sometimes I allow myself to dream,
Of moments I long to share,
I can almost hear you breathing,
Feel your fingers in my hair.
Sometimes I almost cry,
When I think of what we've missed,
The time we've spent apart,
The nights we should have kissed.
Sometimes I question destiny,
Is there really some big plan?
Why is it so hard to touch you,
As only a lover really can?
Sometimes I think I'm crazy,
To look for love at this late date,
But if you reach for me tonight,
You know I won't hesitate.
Sometimes I lie awake,
Fantasizing in the dead of night,
Sure that you're coming soon,
To make my world feel right.
