One for the Troops

Gentle warriors
Hearts that believed
In a dream of
Global freedom conceived

Your service was more
Than empty lip
You put your lives
With your mouths
Aboard carrier and ship

If you were told lies
Succumbed to wicked tricks
Fault lies with deceivers
Twisted politics

That stain
Of blood ribboned with oil
Covers the hands in the
Cookie jars
Soaks desert soil

Your voice is a weapon
You who have seen
Left safety and comfort
To propagate a dream

It’s not on your hands
The crimes or the guilt
Your innocence slain
Flower of chivalry
Withers and wilts

Speak out!
Reclaim their ill gotten hoard
Those noble enough
To take up the sword

Defenders of liberty
Soldiers for peace
I beg you
Speak so that death,
Catastrophe
Can cease.

*Authors Note* I know this is simplistic and too sing-song. But it comes from a place of deep heart.

You do my heart great good. Reminding me that one voice can make a difference. I forgot that for far too long, to my great shame.

Now I'm trying to make up for lost time.

I found some wonderful sites, for soldiers against the war. On the ones that have a place for civilian feedback I'm posting this poem.

Wow, by all means go for it. It's a compliment that you think my words might sway someone. I'm more concerned with the sway than the credit, but I'm not hiding the origin of the words and opinions. Unlike the more radical liberals I have a huge amount of feeling for the troops. I have a lot of friends that served, in both Iraq wars and Vietnam too. Nearly all of them have deep psychological scars left by the Gov trickery. I want to help them heal.

I even signed up for the NPR voter project. *Crosses fingers and hopes they pick her.* Being able to appeal to people's hearts on such a large forum would be bliss.
