Pollution

Wind’s faint wails
thrust through summer’s
rusty screen doors -
Its dank room left open to air -
so that Heartache -
chased around like some swift fly -
can through raised windows escape -
into the world and plague its human flood

"and plague its human flood" the idea of contagious endemic emotion is truly overdue in literature.

I still love this one. This is one of my favorites from you even though it's also one of your shortest! I love the alliteration of "wind's faint wails." I also love that you equated heartache with a fly. There is something so true about that.

Another fine piece. The imagery really stands out here, 'summer’s rusty screen doors' and 'Heartache/chased around like some swift fly' grabbed me. Attaching a man-made invention of pollution to something emotional like heartache is imaginative and works well on a metaphorical level. Good stuff, as always.
