time eternal

The clock hands
Are spears.
Jagged ticks and tocks
Rise in my chest
And hurt with their passing.
They blurred back then-
Tick, tock,
Ticktock ticktock
Ticktockticktocktcktcktck.

The same seconds take forever
Since I left you, though.
As I left in that tortured Greyhound bus
everything felt something like this-
Tiiiiccckk toooccckk
Treetreetreetreetreetreeeee
(Tiiiiiccckk tooooccckk).

I just understood
How it’s possible!
My heart beats faster
When I’m next to you.
When further away it all slows down.
I’m too far away.
I’m sure of that now.
