Sucking Ice Cream Through A Hole In The Cornet

Some things are better not said
with a mouth
once opened exposed
to it’s limit
of sucking ice cream
through a hole in the cornet.

repeating I love you
as every clock chimes
which carry the words
on a two winged instant
one yours
one mine
and then gone.

I once exclaimed
….for poorer
….for worse
still hanging on
a church gatepost
in the echoey North
as we couldn’t unhook them.

I unbolt my ears
fold up my mouth
and pack it away in my box of mistakes.

How come everyone is writing about cornets these days? Is it some sort of trend I was unaware of? ;) At least I know what one is now!

Anyhow, back to the poem. My favorite part also happens to be the part that Sophia pointed out. I definitely don't get bored reading your work. You always have something that's new and interesting. Keep it up!

I really like this one, it flows so well. This bit is especially good in my opinio:

still hanging on
a church gatepost
in the echoey North
as we couldn’t unhook them.
