Summer abandon
Summer abandon
Endless blue skies around
Children’s elemental desires fulfilled
Fairy tale blessings
And cartoon like colours
Brim over the scenes unwilled
Old spirits of the earth arise
With your timeless chants of love
Topped like a cake with it’s cherry
The warmth shining down from above
Come follow me into the garden and forget
Embrace the opium of the days
Where comfort comes from surprising places
Absorbing, delivering its ways
Joy beyond kissing a young face
Beyond the grace of a petal on the breeze
Of a friendship that is old and steady
Where death is given no place
Now sing to me bring to me those that are mine
And come gather round while there is still time
As the wind will stir its mournful tease
And the sun will drop away
The times will change and thoughts will range
From pillow to pillow to pillow
The green will turn to orange
And brown, earth and dust
My thoughts will increase their sorrow
And joy will slowly rust
Old spirits of the earth arise, you sing to me of glory
And give my tired body and weary eyes
A remembrance of our youth
For those seasons I see today
Are blended dreary and damp
The exciting set change rituals
Are invoked by dirty tramps
As quick as a flasher with his Mac
The vivid pictures are done
Rumplestiltskin has stolen the baby
God’s firstborn has neglectfully gone
So sing to me bring to me those that are mine
And we’ll gather round while there is still time
