American Hero

Daddy, Daddy,
Why'd you go?
Out into the
Cold white snow
Mommy never told me
Why you left us.

You said you had to
Go and fight,
Outon that
Cold black night.
That I still don't
Really understand.

Mommy told me you went to war.
When she said this,
My throat got sore,
You'll probably not see me again,
Daddy.

Today Mommy got a pack.
She started crying and said
You won't be back.
Why did you have to go and leave us,
Daddy?

Now I really understand,
You were just fighting,
Just being a man.
I wish you could come home to us,
Daddy.
