confuddled

I am here but
then again I'm not.
Noiseless humming in my mind
dictates to me I'm not all here
It's only due to
lack of awareness;
nothing more,

nothing

less...

Why must I put myself through
this night after day,
day after night?
I fight yet it
eludes me, why
oh why can I

not

attain...

I don't ask for much
yet this somber thought
keeps running amok through my mind.
It keeps me in check
but lowers my resolve
to try because I know
I will fail

yet

again...

My eyes are heavy with
unquenched need,
I can't go on yet
I can't give in.
Why, oh why
must I suffer,
why, why can't I
feel the embrace
of beautiful

blessed

sleep..?

ahhh... the sleep deprived, forced creativity of insomnia. I like the tempo of this poem and the content definitely strikes a chord with me.

Your point is well-expressed and the form carries it beautifully.
Sleep is the lover who teases us sometimes and then doesn't call us for ages!

My husband pointed out that working on the computer stimulates the brain to the point of causing insomnia. It is a catch 22-can't sleep, get on the computer, computer causes us to have a hard time sleeping. Makes you wonder just how much intelligence the programmers put into these machines that make us so addicted that we can't live without them.
