Rewind

Opened eyes for the very first time
From what she said I knew she was lying
Rhymes skip beats, and syncopate by line
Just as I thought I knew my finest crime

Stolen parts of a shattered heart
Drink the cool aid with the wine
Tripped in violent shades of green
No one saw past the smoke screen
No one saw what seemed to be
Another day down, and another dollar in for me

Chips that fell and buried chance
Tattle told of sweet romance
Juxtapose my faith with fate
And you’ll see my angel came to me far too late

But was the thick a-day-tripping
Was the trick to call in a sick day?
Could she, pretty please, come out to play?
Darling, please, just stay

Stolen parts of a shattered heart
Cool air helps caress my spine
Heat of passion, in its fashion
Burns a hole through kindred kinds
Look and ye shall find
But be careful when you rewind.
