I was looking for something,
right in front of my face.
Looking for someone to love,
and fill that empty place.
Trying to have that feeling.
I have not felt in so long.
That feeling that lifts you up,
and floods your life with song.
I was looking for someone,
who had been there all along.
Sharing in the search,
and searching just as long.
I wish I'd had the courage,
if only I did not wait.
Putting out the signals,
I was too blind to take the bait.
A friendship had already blossomed.
But oh how I wanted more.
Time was of the essence,
or I would chicken out like before.
I don't know what I expected,
was not sure what was there.
Long had I thought of you,
and already begun to care.
Gave fate a chance
and threw caution to the wind,
Did not expect to hear yes,
or for any of this to begin.
I waited anxiously,
never had time lasted so long.
My phone began to ring,
I began to hear my song.
I didn't expect to fall,
didn't expect to care.
I looked into my heart
saw love growing there.
Fell so hard so fast,
did not know what to do.
Knowing what I had done,
fallen in love with you.
I did not want to admit it,
did not think it could be true.
Everything so perfect,
every moment spent with you.
Didn't know how sweet,
love could really be.
Looking into your eyes,
I finally began to see...
Feeling like I had known you
and wishing I really had,
either way your leaving
has left me devastatingly sad.
Never felt as happy...
Than when you were here,
nestled in my arms
kissing away our fears.
You are always on my mind,
its never felt so true.
Counting off the minutes,
till I'm again with you.
To only know such love,
and have it taken away...
I can only dream...
of being together again
...someday.
