Island? What Island? - Challenge #19

I stood upon the highest point of the island, yet I was up to my waist in the sea. The island was still charted upon the maps of the world, but ceased to visually exist. My Global Positioning System told me that I was at the exact location I had chartered the boat for. Putting another cross against a long list of exotic names, I returned to the boat and set course for another 'island'.
