Odd - Wee Challenge #19

‘They won’t pick me,’ Bobby thought.

‘Yer over here, Frank’

A boy left the line.

‘They never pick me.’

‘Hey, Kevin! You’re on my team!’

Another boy left.

‘Pick him! Pick him!’

There was just Bobby and Timmy left.

‘Ok Timmy, you better not strikeout this time.’

Bobby now stood alone.

‘Sorry, Bobby. Odd man out.’

The two teams laughed as they ran to the field.

Bobby ran home, crying.

They never saw him again.

Aw, poor wee Bobby. This really got to me - I was the fat kid in primary school and never picked for anything, so I felt Bobby's pain.

Thanks for the read.

Cheers

I'm such a sucker for heartbreaking stories about marginalized kids. You described perhaps the oldest story in the schoolyard book in perfect detail.
