Expectations

I can see why you look at me
With those eyes
Trying to figure out what lies inside
But you know what you look for
Has since disappeared within the sands of time

Why do I do the things that I do
Why do I say the things that I say
They always seem to do no good
You want to know what it is that dwells inside
I cannot tell you because
You do not hold the key to my heart
I must remain distant from the pain you bring
Because I can't allow the hurt to consume me again

I can tell by the look in your eyes
I can tell by the tone of your voice
You want something more from me
Something more that I cannot give you
I will never be the way you want me to be
Never will be the person you deserve

it is better to be closed from the pain, then invite it in.. only to watch it slowly consume us... it's sad..but..sometimes the only way... good job writing this. I see it more on the view of the person who wants in....but no one answers......

I like it man. Feels almost like something I might write. As far as critique, I would say work on having a more consistent or intentional meter/rhythm so that the words flow more easily.
