Island 5

Island 5

Reed stood amidst in the arena, his legs still. The crowd sat there, their bodies frozen eyes watching. He could see that this place was bathed in blue light. Tall lights stood over the walls. Still.
“Reed, stand tall.” The whisper again. His back arched pulling his shoulders.
“Who are you?” His words frantic. With a quick motion he pulled his right foot up, it stuck fast. He was immobile. Jerking his head, he saw at the far end was a barred gate. Ice, covered it. A small roar sounded in his ears.

The gate struggled to open. Reed held his breath, trying to wish this away. Ice crumbled, cracked straining his ears. It fell, splitting the ground. The gate moved slowly at first, ice still falling. He strained his eyes to see what was in the darkness. He tried to moved again, his feet still unwilling. Another roar sounded, a little louder filling his mind. Behind the shadows a eye opened

and a mouth closed.

Thanks, I'm glad to see that it has caused suspense. (Which I was going for)

Yikes!
Has Reed really read his least read?
Are the open eye and closed mouth be friendly?

Hopefully you'll continue with the Island Series and carry on with the cliff-hanger.
It's off to a good start.
