A Smile Goes A Long Way

(Note: Harsh language is ahead!)

They say that the United States of America is the greatest nation in the world today, a super power if you will. If that's true... what the fuck do we have to show for it? Who hell are we helping out that makes us so great? Sure we are a super power, in the military sense, but in the humanity sense we are dead fucking last. Here we are sitting on what could be a humanly gold mine, yet we decide the "good" thing to do is to begin a war, oh i'm sorry, its a struggle now, on terror. What we should be doing with our massive influence and obvious wealth is helping everyone out in the world that needs it, not starting some madman's silly revenge war that he can no longer control. Why can't we put down our guns and pick up each other's hands? The only time we see a massive support from the US to another country is when the other country has been ravaged by war, we don't help them just because, we only step in when it will help us LOOK good, and of course this once again goes straight back to the whole image thing.. "If it looks good, then it is good." Fuck that, how about, "If it looks bad then help it out no matter what." I'm serious, this country, and world for that matter, could stand a little more compassion. I just can't believe that we are squandering every chance available to spread a good influence around the world, but not by forcing democracy on everyone, but by leading through example. It just pisses me off that our country is run based on the idea of capitalism and by guys in suits who only look out for their own well being. It's truly sickening. These are guys that look at people and don't see faces, they see whether or not they stand to make a profit off of this person's life. They are always looking to make their next dollar and they don't care what they have to do or who they have to destroy to gain that dollar. But what makes me even angrier is the veil that is covering the faces of the majority of flag-waiving US citizens. They can't see the man behind the curtain because they were duped by the giant talking head that told them not to worry about it, so they didn't, they just went on with their daily lives thinking that the US is doing everything right. I just hope and pray that someday these people will wake up from the halluciantion and become aware of all the life around them and how much help most of it needs. Also, I hope they realize that the US isn't doing everything in its power to do its part. I fear that we won't open our eyes soon enough, and it will be to late when we finally realize what is upon us... annihilation.

Certainly this is the path we are on, with guns and bombs getting bigger and bigger, and people refusing to give up their fossil fuels, polluting the air, bringing us closer to a total climate meltdown. But I highly doubt anyone will live to see that because most likely we will destroy ourselves well before that takes place. It is because of this I am going to make it my life's mission to spread good will among men.. do good things for other people when they least expect and when they need it the most... I want to people to realize that there is more to life than celebrities and money because there is an incredible world out there that is just waiting to be explored, people to meet and cultures to absorb. We can't stop dead in our tracks with American culture, we need as much as we can and to embrace it with open arms rather than dismiss the unfamiliar. I do realize that this is going on, very slowly and very gradually, right under our noses, and you had better believe there are a lot of people in high places that don't want this to happen because they will lose a lot of money. So for now my brothers and sisters, go out and make people smile, greet people with a warm heart and let others know that you aren't just thinking about yourself. I say it is about time that a revolution is started, not one littered with death and destruction, but one of the love variety, because if love is spread wide... well who knows what will happen? I sure don't.
