Be careful what you wish for

I watched you type it to your wife
and the only eyelids I batted were for attention
but I should have paid more attention
to that

its funny how the world turns while you blink

so we spent a few hours
building a wall
burying 5 months in the foundations
of a one night stand

I have never been so stupid
in all my life.

Sad poem. Sad situation. But you paint it so clearly. I'm almost in the room with you. I can hear you both breath. Feel your knot in my stomach. This is real poetry - sad its foundation has to be pain.

Painful. The concise style is very efficient at conveying the hurt.
