Winter, After Dark

When I get home late on those clean aired nights
When blue haloed stars lose their brilliance when compared to the thousands of glittering icy petals that smile at me from the untouched snowdrifts in my backyard,
I like to stop as I pass through the shadow cast by the garden shed, and wait
At least until the neighbor’s porch light goes out

Just to give you an extra few seconds to find me.

((For my writing class. The topic was "A Moment in Time'))

Well, what can I tell you. I got that warm fuzzy feeling reading the last line. You are a very talented young woman.
