Island 8

Island 8

Reed stood before Fern. Tears, shown in his eyes.
“Fern, I thought you were dead, we all did.” Silence… “Wha, what happened to you?”
Her body, lengthened. She was taller now thinner, her arms much longer than what he remembered. She gazed at him, her sliver eyes pruning through him. With a quick motion she lashed out at him ducking, he rolled to the side. Long claws struck ground, a scratching sound ensued. His heart pounding, he glared at Fern, half fear, half hate. Running, he dodged another claw. Now out of range, he looked around for a weapon. The arena was large, but what could he use?
A small roar sounded, behind him a small whispered caught his attention. Glancing back, he saw it was Nenda.

Her lips moved.
“Help.”
