Yearning

I walk the streets
I see the smiling faces
The happy couples
And how I envy them

Their joy is fake
Their love is hate
And their words are lies
They think they are happy

They don’t know
That the ‘love of their life’
Will leave
Before life ends

They don’t know
The pain and sorrow
Of utter abandonment
Of aching regret

Yes, this is false
As all things are
Nothing but reflections
Of what we truly desire

Yet I desire
These falsehoods
I want to smile as freely
As the innocent fools on the street

Not merely because
I expect the pain
But because I…
I want to be happy too

I want to feel loved
I want to receive
The sweet little lies
That only a lover can whisper

I want to feel special
As though I
Were the only one
And no one else mattered

But I am alone
No one wants
A broken doll
With a splintered heart

Humans don’t want
A human whose beauty
Does not exist
On the skin

My sad little colors
Of my glimmering soul
Dance for the attention
Of another’s eyes

But no look comes
No one cares
And I’ve come to see
That I don’t care either
Not anymore…

Wow. Amazing. A human who's beauty does not exist on the skin... That really got me - and the line; Yes, this is false
As all things are
Nothing but reflections
Of what we truly desire
This really expresses some of what I felt/feel recently, having just become an ending. This expresses beneath the illusion - the grief and anger that always lurks. No one wants a broken doll... I loved that line too.
I desire these falsehoods too...x
Inspiring and really honest, thank you.
