D.A.R.E. Essay

D Define, Describe the problem, challenge or opportunity
A Assess, What are your choices?
R Respond, MAKE A CHOICE. Use facts and information you have gathered
E Evaluate, REVIEW YOUR QUESTIONS. Did you make a good decision?

Today in D.A.R.E. I learned a lot about drugs and how to defend your self without lying. I learned certain rules such as 1# raise your hand, 2# be positive and respectful,3#observe and use the quiet signal,4#use the words “someone I know” instead of a persons name when using a story.5#answer only the questions that you feel comfortable answering. In class when we follow these rules, we are rewarded with things like key chains and good reports because we used listening skills and had good behavior.
In D.A.R.E., we also learn about decision-making and what to do and what not to do if you’re in a sticky situation. For example, if you are put into peer pressure or self-peer pressure you can always think of the many choices you can and cannot say. We also talk about our opinion of things and how our opinions really matter. We also take the time to write down important facts about drugs such as tobacco and marijuana. It’s really important that we understand what we’re doing in class, so our deputy is nice and makes everything easy and hard to make sure we understand. She also gives us questions that we can answer. If you get the question right, you get to hold and take care of Dare (D.A.R.E. is a lion representing D.A.R.E.).
Also, we learn about cancer and diseases that happen from drugs. People sometimes don’t enforce the results from drugs and how they can mess up your social life and your chances of being that NFL football player or famous track player. Drugs also slow your mind and make you think differently. Alcohol also slows you down and is the reason you may see many accidents at night. People who are alcoholics drink beer and wine a lot and get addicted to the type of drinks. Also, in D.A.R.E. we learn about how to tell if someone is your friend or not. We learn this by evaluating what a true friend does and what a bad friend does.
A very important thing we learned was ways to be in charge. Some ways that we were taught to be in charge in D.A.R.E. was to try to avoid places where drugs really are and always have strength in numbers because you never want to be alone in a serious situation. So always, travel with a friend. Also, you never need to use violence because we all know its wrong and if we keep on trying to make a better place for everyone to live, we will have a better non-violence place for everyone to live in.
In D.A.R.E. I have learned to be smarter with decision-making and to never give in to people who think they are smarter than I am. I have learned to be committed to my goals and to try my hardest when I do everything. I feel good about the way that D.A.R.E. has taught me because now I know how to defend myself if I’m in a situation. I now that there is no need for fighting and that all you need is a mouth and self-confidence. I realize that drugs are bad for not just me, but everyone around me. I know it’s important to be drug free and violence free because it’s wrong to hurt someone else if they’ve done nothing to you. Now, I know I can prove to everyone in the entire world that I can be, a non-violence and drug free student!!!!!!
