Medicated Realizations

This existence
Cultivated by this drug abuse
The high of such indulgence the reason for my breathing
Or so I thought
This addiction, a mental and physical burden
Exaggerated by the want and need for its touch
Only an illusion
A side affect of the pills
The dull realization, held back by a medicated stupor
Bleak awareness now behind these blackened eyes
Sleepless nights and withdraw anxiety
Replenished by the soft sting of the needle
Continuous highs keep the truth from these eyes
With the supply gone for the time being, reality begins to slip back into a blurry view
Addiction, a physical state of need
Love, a mental state of confusion
Physically and mentally disabled by its proximity
Its is possible that its all been a lie?

Hard realization. Interesting topic. I think line 11, did you really mean "withdraw" or "withdrawal?" I like the stream of consciousness approach to this piece. Nice work.
