Help!

So, for a college that i would like to go to i have to do this portfolio thing right? One of the requirments is a graphic novel. I have no idea what to do with it. I've never been big on those, and have no idea how i'm supposed to start, much less illustrate a story when my artistic drawing skills are average at best, not including drawing people. So anyone with any sort of adive is welcome. please!!

Draw up an outline of a story. Think of where you want to start and where you want to end. What kind of people will populate the story? What do they look like? How do they dress? How do they speak? Do they have any funny quirks? These are all issues you should confront BEFORE you begin. That will make your ability to the story easier. But above all, don't forget about serendipity. Something will always happen that will change everything! Good luck! :-)
