The Penny Dropped: Challenge 20

She held her hand over the wall that ran around the flat roof and surveyed the scene below. She only had one penny, so she wanted to be sure. Her mum might notice if more than one pence was missing, but Mrs Bower was always on at them to do their own science experiments at home. A white coach pulled over to the kerb and a large crowd got off. She aimed carefully into the midst of the heads and let the coin fall.

So it was true: a penny dropped from a great height really could kill a man.

I liked how this was written. It was funny and it touched an urban myth at the same time. I wonder if anyone has ever actually tried this though? Now there's a worrying thought.

Am I allowed to groan? Bet you've got loads more where they came from as well, haven't you?

Nicely done.

I don't suppose the young lady went down later to see if she could recover the penny. It could be returned to the purse and no one would know. She could thereby "save" the penny.

If the authorities found it, it would be im"pound"ed as the murder weapon.

I understand the falling dollar will do a lot of people serious harm.
